A Charlotte man has been charged with murder nearly two weeks after his wife was found dead inside a home in the University City area.
Police identified the victim as 35-year-old Heidi May Morton.
On Friday, July 7, police were dispatched to a home in the 5400 block of Dusty Trail Road to assist paramedics. When officers arrived, they found Morton unresponsive.
After working with the coroner’s office and the district attorney’s office, detectives ruled that Morton “was the victim of a homicide,” a CMPD spokesman said.
On Wednesday, Morton’s husband, Alton Ulysses Morton Jr., voluntarily went to police headquarters for questioning, the department said. He was charged with murder and booked in Mecklenburg jail.
Police have not said how Heidi Morton died.
