Man found shot dead inside car that struck utility pole

The shooting was reported late Monday in west Charlotte.

A 32-year-old man was found shot to death late Monday inside a car that struck a utility pole in west Charlotte.

Police identified the victim as Cornell Lamarche Bridges.

The incident began around 7:10 p.m. when CMPD got a call about shots fired in the 4500 block of Hovis Road. Officers were in the area investigating when a second caller reported that someone had been shot inside a vehicle.

Police found Bridges in the 300 block of N. Hoskins Road, in the driver’s seat of a white car. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
