Police investigate Charlotte’s 31st homicide of 2017

The shooting was reported early Tuesday in the Washington Heights area off Brookshire Freeway.

CMPD is investigating the city’s 31st homicide of 2017, a shooting that happened early Tuesday in the Washington Heights area off Brookshire Freeway.

Police identified the victim as 30-year-old Keith Lawrence Ross.

The shooting was reported at 2:10 a.m. in the 2900 block of Botany St. When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

“He suffered from at least one gunshot wound, and indications are that he was shot outside the residence. We do not have any suspects in custody at this point,” Major Anthony Kornberg told WBTV News.
