UPDATE:
Homicide detectives are investigating the deaths of two people inside a southeast Charlotte apartment as a murder-suicide.
CMPD identified the female victim as Tiara Clark, 29, and a male suspect as Byron Howington, 31.
Police said the two were involved in a domestic relationship.
“Evidence gathered on the scene and the security measures in place at the apartment led investigators to believe this is a murder-suicide,” CMPD said in a statement.

Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting in southeast Charlotte that left a man and woman dead inside an apartment unit.
Police withheld the victims’ names pending notification of family members.
The shooting was reported to police at 1:39 p.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of Charleston Place, which is east of Monroe Road near McAlpine Creek Park. Police were called to the scene to assist paramedics.
When officers arrived, they found a male and a female with gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicates that both victims lived at the location and were in a relationship, a CMPD spokesman said.
