A man playing basketball in a west Charlotte park was wounded in a shooting Sunday afternoon, CMPD reported.

Police did not release the victim’s name but said he was taken to Carolinas medical center with serous injuries.

The shooting was reported at 3:26 p.m. in the Martin Luther King Park on Ravencroft Drive. When officers arrived, they found the male lying on a basketball courts with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police offered no motive for the shooting and did not indicate whether the victim and shooter knew one another.
