It’s not yet summer weather, but the jazz scene in Charlotte is definitely hot! Last weekend I attended one of my favorite venues in Charlotte — The Jazz Room at the Stage Door Theater Uptown. If you love Brazilian music, you would have loved vocalist Sasha Masakowski of New Orleans. She didn’t miss a beat as she charmed the audience with her alluring and captivating voice. I’m gullible for anyone’s rendition of The Girl From Ipanema, which is believed to be the most famous Brazilian song ever recorded. The evening was certainly a delightful tribute to composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. I hate it for you if you missed out.
This weekend, “Unforgettable,” starring Rosario Dawson and Katherine Heigl, hits the big screen. I was able to catch the screening Wednesday evening at AMC Carolina Pavilion 22. Don’t shoot the messenger, but I don’t know any ex-wives who look forward to being BFFs with the new Mrs. This movie had plenty of twists, turns, and enough messy drama to keep me from ever wanting to become the new wife. Entertaining and worth seeing.
Check out my weekend picks.
