Charlotte recorded its 22nd homicide of 2017 on Tuesday when a 29-year-old man was shot in northwest Charlotte.

The victim was identified as Laymon A. Moore.

The shooting was reported to CMPD at 8:24 p.m. in the 1900 block of Catherine Simmons Avenue, which is near the Lincoln Heights neighborhood along Beatties Ford Road. When officers arrived, they found Moore lying close to the street with an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Detectives believe that Moore was walking on Catherine Simmons Avenue across from the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Park when a vehicle pulled up beside him. The suspects, who were inside the vehicle, argued with Moore before he was shot and the suspects drove away.

CMPD offered no information on a possible motive or suspects.
