Adrian Crutchfield to hold his album release concert at the Neighborhood Theatre

Last weekend, I watched  “I Am Not Your Negro” at the Manor Twin Theater on Providence Road. I anxiously waited months for the release of this documentary based on James Baldwin’s unfinished manuscripts about Medgar Ever, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X and the Civil Rights Movement. Shocking and explosive best describes this must-see film.

Although the human spirit is resilient, I found myself silently crying during many of the scenes, which were pure, raw, and unfortunately the reality of what is still very much relevant today. I loved the movie and would definitely recommend it for everyone. Do yourself a favor this weekend and place it on your to-do lists.

Also this weekend is the release of the film “A United Kingdom,” a romantic drama based on a true story of Prince Seretse Khama of Botswana who shocked the world when he married a white woman from London. View the movie trailer.

Check out my weekend picks.
