A 39-year-old man was killed early Monday when two vehicles collided at an intersection in northwest Charlotte.

CMPD identified the victim as Barton Edward Nixon.

The wreck was reported at 1:21 a.m. at the intersection of Rozzelles Ferry Road and Toddville Road.

According to an initial police report, Nixon was driving a Nissan Altima northbound on Toddville Road and failed to stop at the intersection. His car collided with a GMC Yukon that was traveling eastbound on Rozzelles Ferry Road.

The driver of the Yukon, Alta Ravon Bost Sr., 38, was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

A CMPD spokesman said the preliminary investigation suggests that Nixon may have been drinking prior to the crash.
