Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a fatal shooting in northeast Charlotte that left one man dead.

Authorities withheld the victim’s name pending notification of family members.

The shooting was reported at 7:11 p.m. Thursday in the 8700 block of Mallard Creek Road. When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He died at Carolinas Medical Center.

Detectives believe the victim was taken to the Mallard Creek Road location after he was shot, and officers late Thursday were searching for the initial crime scene.
