Toni Baker-Tyson strongly recommends the Denzel Washington flick, "Fences."

This week I continued my annual Christmas Day ritual of checking out a movie. I chose the movie “Fences,” starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. I saw the play many years ago, but the movie was everything it promised and more. I attended a sold-out matinee where patrons didn’t hold back their feelings as Denzel took us on a rollercoaster ride along with his wife and family. Like many relationships, unconditional love can and will persevere. Two thumbs up for a job well done. I strongly suggest you go see the movie during the holiday week.

If you’ve been on Facebook lately, you’ve noticed people in Charlotte are checking out Mister 3’s Crab Pot. You don’t have to tell any of us twice that a hole in the wall is where you find the best-cooked meals. Located at 401 Bradford Drive, this seafood takeout venue has a fried lobster tail that will melt in your mouth. I haven’t gotten around to trying other items on the menu, but without a doubt, I will be back and don’t you sleep on them.

Check out my weekend picks.
