WHAT’S HAPPENING?

Monday: It’s time to Undeck the Halls. This annual tradition, always held the day after Christmas, allows fans to select a gift off one of the many trees decorating the NASCAR Hall of Fame with NASCAR-themed items like autographed souvenirs, die-cast cars, race tickets, and sheet metal. Early arrival is encouraged for best selection. Doors open at 10 a.m., and the event continues until all of the gifts are gone. (Details)

Tuesday: Brian Pierce is hosting the Buzzed Spelling Bee at Petra’s Piano Bar. Sign up to participated or stop in and watch contestants try to spell words most of us haven’t heard since eighth grade. Registration begins at 8:30 p.m. (Details)

Wednesday: Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band is performing live at Visulite Theatre. Known for their raucous live shows and outrageous stage wear, the Booty Band’s sound is a mix of deep funk, high energy rock, plus a little old school rap and soul thrown in for good measure. (Details)

Thursday: Football teams from the ACC and SEC will battle it out in Uptown Charlotte as the Belk Bowl gets underway at Bank of America Stadium. While the highlight will certainly be the game, the celebration begins early with the free FanFest in the Mint Street area of Uptown and the FanFest concert nearby at BB&T Ballpark. (Details)
