How far would you go to find the love you’re looking for?
This past weekend, I checked out the romantic comedy “Bounce Back” starring Shemar Moore and Bill Bellamy. Moore plays a relationship guru and a best-selling author who unexpectedly stumbles upon love. Definitely a refreshing romantic movie. I give it two thumbs up.
And who doesn’t enjoy great entertainment free of charge? The Hickory Grove public library branch featured jazz singer Nicci Canada and refreshments for a pre-holiday treat. What a spectacular event. I hate it for you if you missed out.
“Soulful sounds at Christmas” featured R&B singer Will Downing, jazz pianist Alex Bugnon and vocalist Chante Moore. This event almost slipped off my radar. I wasn’t looking forward to hearing Christmas music, let alone attending a Christmas concert. Thank goodness this was one of the many times I didn’t listen to my intuition. Not a single Christmas song was performed.
To my delight, Will Downing performed many of his hits such as “I Tried,” “Don’t You Talk To Me Like That” and “Nothing Has Ever Felt Like This.” Jazz lovers in the house finger-snapped and nodded their heads to legendary pianist Alex Bugnon’s “107 Degrees in the Shade” and Chante Moore performed her hit song “Chante’s Got a Man” and delightfully swooned the male audience (all in fun of course). Oh yes, Ms. Moore can still hit that high-pitched range like the late Minnie Riperton.
Check out my weekend picks.
