Police say a man found shot to death near an elementary school in southeast Charlotte early Wednesday was the victim of a shooting reported the previous night.
CMPD officers were sent to the area at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday after someone called to report hearing gunshots. At the time, however, the officers found no evidence of a crime.
The victim’s body was discovered Wednesday just before 9 p.m. in the 7100 block of Idlewild Road, lying near a fence close to Idlewild Elementary School.
Authorities identified the victim as 19-year-old Israel Jacob Williams.
