Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Monday in the 2100 block of Archdale Drive.

CMPD got a call at 4:38 a.m. about an assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived, they found a man with apparent stab wounds. He was pronounced dead a short time later at Carolinas Medical Center.

Authorities withheld the victim’s name pending notification of family members.

Detectives were canvassing the area looking for potential witnesses.
