Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a shooting in southeast Charlotte that left a 22-year-old man dead Wednesday evening.

Authorities identified the victim as Thomas McDonald.

CMPD got a call about the shooting, in the 2500 block of Cross Point Circle, at 6:34 p.m. (The location is just off Independence Boulevard near Matthews.) When officers arrived, the found a man, later identified as McDonald, with gunshot wounds. He died shortly after arriving at Carolinas Medical Center.

Police made no mention of a motive or suspect in the case.
