Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are conducting a homicide investigation after a man was found mortally injured early Tuesday just north of uptown.

Authorities did not immediately identify the victim, who died at Carolinas Medical Center, but said he was found “suffering from apparent trauma” in the 1500 block of N. Tryon Street. CMPD received the call at 3:30 a.m.

A CMPD spokesman offered no information about what may have caused the man’s injuries. Meanwhile, officers were canvassing the area looking for potential witnesses.
