Police are investigating a shooting in north Charlotte that left one person dead early Wednesday.

Authorities withheld the victim’s name pending notification of family members.

According to an initial CMPD report, the shooting was reported at 3:24 a.m. inside a home in the 5400 block of Datha Avenue, near the Derita community.

When officers arrived they found a male who had been shot. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

A CMPD spokeswoman said someone shot into the home then entered by force. Police offered no motive, and no suspect was named.
