Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting that left one man injured and another dead inside a car on Brookshire Boulevard.

Police did not immediately release the victims’ names.

A Metro Division sergeant driving in the 3600 block of Brookshire Boulevard, near Interstate 85, reported finding the victims at 6:04 a.m. when he came upon a car that he initially thought had been in an accident.

After stopping to investigate, the sergeant saw a male standing beside the car with a gunshot wound to one of his arms. A second male, Darius Deon Chapman, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene.

CMPD released no information about a suspect or possible motive.
