Police are investigating a shooting that left a 41-year-old man dead in west Charlotte late Tuesday. CMPD identified the victim as Donnell Eric Drakeford.
The shooting was reported just before midnight, when officers were called to the 4400 block of Ridgevalley Drive in the Freedom Division to investigate. Once there, they found Drakeford suffered from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
A CMPD spokeswoman did not speculate on a motive, and no suspect was named.
