A driver who was injured in a fatal wreck on June 6 has died from those injuries, and police have charged a second driver for his role in both deaths.
Raymond Anthony Lipscomb died Tuesday at Carolinas Medical Center, CMPD confirmed Wednesday.
Lipscomb, 53, was driving a car on Shopton Road West in southwest Charlotte when his vehicle was struck by a work van driven by Luis Enrique Gomez-Espino, 22. A passenger in the van, Alexis Arciga, died at the scene.
According to police, Gomez-Espino was driving north on Shopton Road West at 5:40 p.m. when his passenger-side tires ran off the road. He overcorrected and slide into oncoming traffic.
The van struck a 2011 Hyundai Elantra that was being driven by Lipscomb. The van rotated after impact and flipped over, ejecting Arciga, who was not wearing a seat belt.
With the death of Lipscomb, Gomez-Espino has now been charged with two counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and driving without a license.
