A 75-year-old man died Monday after the car he was driving sideswiped another vehicle then struck a utility poll and storage building.
Ralph Clark Black was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said no one else was injured in the wreck, which happened at 7:33 p.m. in the 4400 block of Gainesborough Road in east Charlotte.
According to initial police reports, Black was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox in the 4500 block of Shamrock Drive when he sideswiped a 2005 Ford F-150 pick-up truck pulling a lawn equipment trailer in the opposite direction. The Equinox continued into oncoming lanes before running off the roadway and striking a utility pole and then a storage building.
Early Tuesday, police were still investigating the crash. Speed and alcohol were not thought to be factors, police said.
