A teacher at Countryside Montessori School has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting two female students during their senior year at the school in 2012-2013.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police identified the suspect as Jarrett Murgolo, 35. He was charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a student and one count of sexual activity with a student.
Police say the investigation began April 19, when they were notified of a “sexual assault” that involved a student and teacher at Countryside Montessori, a private school on Mallard Creek Road in the University City area.
During the investigation, detectives spoke with the two female students who said they were sexually assaulted by Murgolo when they attended the school.
On Tuesday, Murgolo voluntarily went to CMPD headquarters for questioning, according to a department spokesman. Based on that information, the spokesman said, Margolo was charged and booked in the Mecklenburg jail.
The school’s website on Tuesday listed Murgolo as supervising lead teacher of the secondary program. The school did not immediately respond to phone and messages requesting comment.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or Detective O’Dell at 704-336-4466.
