Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating the death of a 22-year-old woman who was shot during an altercation late Friday in east Charlotte.
Police identified the victim as Jasmin Rena Flores.
Officers in the Eastway Division got a call at 10:10 p.m. about a disturbance in the 1700 block of Darbrook Drive, just north of Central Avenue between N. Sharon Amity Road and Eastway Drive. A short time later, officers from the Providence Division were called to Novant Presbyterian Hospital about a woman who had died in the emergency room from a gunshot wound.
After questioning witnesses at the Darbrook location, police determined that several people had gotten into an altercation and that someone had fired a gun. The shooter was taken to police headquarters for questioning. As of early Saturday, CMPD had not released word on whether the shooter had been charged.
