On March 9, I made my television debut on the FOX 46 morning news program “Good Day Charlotte.” I was invited to participate in their weekly segment call Workout Wednesday, and I was given roughly five minutes to demonstrate three muscular-toning exercises.

Each week, on rotation, different fitness professionals are invited onto the show to share tips, exercises, etc., in an effort to help others embrace healthier lifestyles.

I’m privileged to add this new venture to my fitness resume.

I felt particularly blessed because my TV appearance came approximately six weeks after I underwent major surgery.  Click here to read that story.

Upon my arrival at the station, I was greeted by Mitchell Smith, a FOX 46 producer. Because the show is broadcast live, I had to move quickly from task to task, kind of like the speed I use when teaching an aerobics class.

For example, I had a short window to sign paperwork, meet Barbara Lash (FOX on-air personality working out with me), review the exercises with her, have a small microphone attached, perform a microphone check and receive final directions for my brief appearance (where to stand, etc.).

It was a lot to digest, but I was too excited to notice.

Once the cameras rolled, I realized being on TV was thrilling and not as scary as I imagined. Several factors helped: Lash was friendly, she engaged in the exercises, and I was sharing subject matter I love.

The three exercises I shared that day were:

  1. Alternating front squats while performing front arm extension (holding a 5-pound weight)
  2. Squats while lifting both arms overhead (holding a 5-pound weight)
  3. An Abdominal exercise that doesn’t strain your neck and back.

It was a great experience, and I’m glad I did it. I certainly look forward to my next appearance.
