The owner of Sports One in Charlotte’s First Ward is opening a sister concept next door called Bar One.
Patrick Staub, who owns the building at 529 N. College St., said the lounge concept has been in the works for a couple of years. He declined to provide the name of his tenant, but said it’s the one who owns Sports One at 521 N College St.
That would be restaurateur Peter Thomas, well-known as husband of Cynthia Bailey on the show Real Housewives of Atlanta. He mentioned the concept to the entertainment site Wetpaint last year.
Real estate documents filed Thursday show the project calls for a renovation of the existing building for a new bar/restaurant. Jason Hood is the architect on the project.
Staub said the hope is for Bar One to open by May.
According to his Instagram account, Thomas is also planning to open a club in Charlotte’s N.C. Music Factory in April. He describes it as the “hottest bottle bar/night club” in uptown Charlotte and the Music Factory.
Thomas couldn’t be reached for comment.
