Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a shooting in east Charlotte Thursday that left one man dead and two with serious gunshot wounds.

Authorities did not immediately release the names of any of the men who were shot.

According to an initial report, the shootings were reported to police shortly after noon in the 8700 block of Parkland Circle, which is near the intersection of East W.T. Harris Boulevard and Albemarle Road.

When officers arrived, they found two males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced one dead at the scene; the second was taken to Carolina Medical Center.

A short time later, police were notified that a third male involved in the incident was dropped off at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and was being treated.

Police said the shootings were not a random act and that those involved all knew one another. CMPD did not release details about a suspect or potential motive.
