If there’s a cure for this, I don’t want it!
Legendary songstress Diana Ross certainly set the tone this week at Blumenthal’s Belk Theater. Ms. Ross sashayed on stage (in beautiful evening gowns) as if she owned the place, belting out her hit “I’m Coming Out.” Fans young and old danced and swayed to favorites like “Love Hangover” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”
Even when Ross stopped her performance to eject an unauthorized photographer, she made it loud and clear she was still in charge. I’ve attended many shows at the Blumenthal, but this Dianna Ross performance proved to me that Charlotte knows how to let its hair down and turn things (in my Diana Ross voice) Up Side Down.
By the way, if you’re looking for a new place to have a meal on the town, try Sea Level (129 E. 5th Street), around the corner from the Blumenthal. Sea Level opened less than two weeks ago, and the lobster roll sandwich and the crispy apple cobbler certainly caught my attention. The cozy atmosphere is ideal for dinner before a show or for a late meal, with prices that won’t break your wallet.
