On overnight shooting early Thursday in west Charlotte has left one man dead and a second serious injuries.
Police said the incident happened shortly after midnight inside a residence in the 900 block of State Street, in the Metro Division.
When officers arrived, they found two males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One was pronounced dead at the scene; the second was taken to Carolinas Medical Center. Police did not immediately identify either person.
Based on initial reports, police believe that two suspects entered the home, where a fight broke out between one of the suspects and occupants of the home. During that fight, the suspect was shot and later died.
As of early Thursday, detectives were still searching for the second suspect.
Police did not offer information relating to the second person who was shot.
Based on interviews with people inside the home at the time of the shooting, police believe the subjects knew on another and that this was not a random act.
