I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty excited about the new year.

I started my New Year’s Eve celebration with a traditional lunch of fried chicken, collard greens, hot rolls, sweet tea, black eye peas and rice, along with delicious peach cobbler, before attending Watch Night Watson service, which on this date in 1862 African Americans gathered together at the stroke of Midnight January 1st to await news of the Emancipation Proclamation.

With the warm weather last week, I didn’t miss a beat and got off to a great start. I attended Dillard’s department store’s annual one-day 50% off sale New Year’s Day. As for resolutions…I’m just looking forward to good health, wealth and enjoying every hour. Make sure you check out qcity2021.flywheelstaging.com for exciting events happening around the city in 2016.

Watch your waistline from all those Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and keep pounding, Panthers. Happy New Year’s to you, and I look forward to seeing you on the town.

Now for my weekend picks.
