A Charlotte doctor was arrested Monday after three of his female patients accused him of sexually assaulting them during medical examinations.
Dr. Mario Hernandez, 58, whose office is in the 800 block of Arrowood Road, was charged with three counts of 2nd-degree sexual offense. He turned himself in at the Mecklenburg sheriff’s offices after authorities got a warrant for his arrest.
According to CMPD, two of the women alleged that Hernandez assaulted them in his office on Nov. 5 and Nov. 20. They reported the alleged assaults to police immediately after leaving his office. In a third incident, reported to police on Dec. 4, a woman alleged that the assault occurred on May 6.
The Charlotte Observer reported that, in two instances, Hernandez was accused of forcible fondling, according to police reports. In the third, he was accused of sexual assault with an object.
According to the North Carolina Medical Board, Hernandez graduated from the Universidad Nacional De Colombia in 1983 and did his residency at Bella Vista Hospital in Puerto Rico, the Observer reported He’s also been licensed to practice medicine in Virginia, according to the board
His practice is called Family Medicine Care at 816 C East Arrowood Road. According to its website, the practice provides minor medical procedures including preventive, cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry.
