Two men suspected of robbing a Wells Fargo Bank branch on Park Road were arrested Tuesday following a car chase that ended in northwest Charlotte.

CMPD did not immediately identify the suspects.

According to a police report, two men entered the Wells Fargo branch at 4501 Park Road shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday and assaulted an employee and demanded money at gunpoint. They fled in a white Honda then switched to a gray Ford Fusion.

Police tracked the cars on the ground and by helicopter. At one point during the chase, the car slowed on LaSalle Street and one of the suspects jumped out and ran.

The driver continued before sideswiping a vehicle and disabling his own car. The driver then surrendered to police without further incident.

The second suspect was arrested after a foot chase that included a K-9 unit.

The bank employee who was assaulted was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, a CMPD spokeswoman said.
