Buzz is building after Amazon on Tuesday released a trailer to Spike Leeās upcoming movie, Chi-Raq, a comedy that deals with gun violence in Chicago.
The film is a modern day adaptation of the ancient Greek play āLysistrataā by Aristophanes. In case you missed that day in world literature class, āLysistrataā is a comic (and totally fictional) account of how women in ancient Greece withheld sex from their husbands and lovers in order to stop a war.
In this Spike Lee Joint, the title role is played by Teyonah Paris, who in the trailer is heard leading the women of Southside Chicago in the pledge āI will deny rights of access and entrance.ā
āLysistrataā is set for limited release on Dec. 4, followed by a release on Amazon Instant Video.
