When we allow uncontrolled fear to influence our lives, we are sure to become stuck. When we are fearful to move forward toward our dreams, we often don’t. And when we don’t move forward toward our dreams, we stifle our lives.
2 Timothy 1:7 is a great reminder: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
No, it’s not easy to step out and try something new. Yet, if we remain behind the scenes of our own lives, we will never enjoy the life that the Lord has crafted just for us.
Negative self-talk doesn’t help, either.
Self-talk that says, “I’ll never lose weight” or “I’m too old to start fresh” or “No one will ever love me.” Stop it! Those kinds of self-proclamations will shut down your desire to try.
Sometimes, the negative voices even come from friends and family – those closest to us. But instead of listening to our personal pundits, we must believe what the Lord say about us.
Philippians 4:12-13 says this: “I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
This year is coming to a close. What did you start that you haven’t finished?
You still have three months –the 4th quarter — to get busy. Many a game has been won in the final quarter.
Remember Super bowl XLIX between the Patriots and Seahawk? The Patriots orchestrated the best fourth-quarter comeback in Super Bowl history against the best defense of the last decades?
It’s not too late to get started. However, it is too late to do nothing!
