Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools named two new principals at Tuesday’s board meeting:

Merita Brown-Little was named principal at Steele Creek Elementary. She had been an assistant principal at J.M. Alexander Middle, Crestdale Middle, Highland Renaissance Academy and Nathaniel Alexander Elementary. She had also been a literacy facilitator and teacher in CMS. She earned her bachelor’s degree in speech communication from North Carolina A&T State University. Brown-Little also holds a master’s degree in school administration from Gardener-Webb University.

Diann Weston was named principal at Hawthorne High. She joins CMS from Chicago Public Schools, where she had been a principal and a principal intern. Weston holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Colorado. She also holds a master’s degree in elementary education from National-Louis University.
