Critically acclaimed journalist, educator and mentor, Soledad O’Brien, will host a powerful discussion and panel that will focus on uncovering and sharing empowering stories that take a challenging look at the often divisive issues of race, class, wealth, poverty and opportunity.

“My consciousness about race was really implanted in me by my parents. I’m black because my parents said I’m black. I’m black because my mother’s black. I’m black because I grew up in a family of all black people. I knew I was black because I grew up in an all-white neighborhood.” – Soledad O’Brien

Directly after the discussion, O’Brien will hold a book signing for her book, The Next Big Story: My Journey Through the Land of Possibilities. Also, attendees will receive free admission to Gantt Center exhibitions with a ticket stubs from this event, good through Sunday, February 23, 2014.
