This historically black university is located on a 100-acre campus in Charlotte’s historic west end, just a mile from Uptown. Originally founded in 1867 by the Presbyterian church as Biddle Memorial Institute, it changed to Johnson C Smith(JCSU) in 1923. Today, JCSU is a private, co-educational, 4-year liberal arts university that has around 1,600-enrolled students.

23 degrees are offered throughout its three colleges – the College of Arts and Letters, the College of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and the College of Professional Studies.

Located in Center City Charlotte just off I-277 and I-85, Metropolitan College provides adult undergraduate courses that enable career advancement. The college has flexible and convenient schedules for the working adult; with evening, online and weekend courses.

Students with limited time can take a seven-week accelerated schedule offered throughout the year. This schedule has majors in criminology, social work, business administration-accounting, and business administration-management .
