Charlotte’s Center City (Uptown Charlotte) is the location of well-known Fortune 500 companies such as, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and “the Power of the City” Duke Energy, as well as great spots for entertainment. Attractions include museums, like the Mint Museum, the Harvey Gannt Center for African American Arts + Culture, and the Bechtler Museum of Art. Uptown is also home to a variety of hotels, including the Ritz Carlton, over 120 restaurants, shops, bars, and historic streets that are often alive with local bands, festivals, and vendors. Uptown is divided into four wards by the intersection of Trade and Tryon St. The First Ward to the east that includes the Main Library and Time Warner Cable Arena. The Second Ward to the south that includes the NASCAR Hall of Fame and mini-park, The Green. The Third Ward to the west includes the Mint Musuem, the Gateway Village, and the Romare Bearden Park that will open in August of 2013. The Fourth Ward to the north is mostly made up of residential neighborhoods and Victorian homes.
