Dilworth
Established in the 1890s by Edward Dilworth Latta, Charlotte’s Dilworth area was the first streetcar suburb. Dilworth includes Charlotte’s largest hospital, Carolinas Medical Center and the Latta Park. While a historic charm can still be seen in Dilworth through its mix of bungalow, grand Victorian, and colonial homes, the area also has a variety of eclectic shops, bars, and restaurants.
Myers Park
After plans for a streetcar suburb were developed in 1905, landscape architect John Nolen established the Myers Park area in 1911. With a population of around 9,800 people, Myers Park is bordered by other neighborhoods such as Dilworth, Eastover, and South Park. Myers Park is home the Myers Park branch of the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, Myers Park High School, Myers Park Traditional Elementary School, Theatre Charlotte, and Manor Theatre, one of Charlotte’s oldest movie theatres.
