Secretary of Transportation, Anthony Foxx.
Anthony Foxx, the 48th and youngest Mayor in Charlotte began his term in 2009. In 2005, he was elected to the Charlotte City Council as an At-Large Representative and served two terms. A graduate of Davison College and New York University School of Law, Anthony Foxx was a member of the Economic Development & Planning Committee. He also served as chair of the Transportation Committee, as well as the city council’s representative to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Development Cooperation and the Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Organization. Foxx lead a bid to bring the DNC to Charlotte and in July of 2013 was sworn in as the Secretary of Transportation under Barack Obama.
