A 50-year-old-man was stuck by a car and killed late Saturday while lying in a Charlotte street.
The incident happened at about 10:15 p.m. in the 2700 block of Old Steele Creek Road. The victim was identified as Michael Dwain Williams.
According to a police report, William was struck by an SUV driven by 59-year-old David Milton Motley, who told police he saw something in the roadway but was unable to avoid the collision.
Neither Motley nor a passenger is his car was injured. At the time of the accident, police said, the road was dark but lit by street lights.
Police believe Williams may have been intoxicated. The case was still being investigated at the time of this posting.
