LeRoy W. Singleton Sr. departed this life on March 20, 2013 at Mercy Hospital.

Mr. Singleton was the son of the late Howard Elliot and Ruth Edith McKinnon-Singleton. He was a graduate from Kingston High School and attended Central Piedmont Community College.

Mr. Singleton was a former member of the Franklin Street AME Zion Church, where he had served several terms respectively as chairman, treasurer and secretary of the Trustee Board. He was a member of the gospel chorus group and choir.

He served in the United States Army as a military police officer, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He retired from IBM as a computer specialist after 35 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Gloria Neal Singleton; three children, Lenora Ruth German and husband James, Gloria Lynn Singleton and LeRoy W. Singleton Jr.

Services will be held on Tuesday, March 26, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church. Viewing will be held between 12 noon and 1 p.m. Burial will be at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
