Mrs. Florence “Tena” Franks Doby departed this earthly life on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was 84 years old.
A retired cosmetologist and beauty consultant/instructor, Florence “Tena” Doby was born in Charlotte, N.C., on August 7, 1927 to the late Mr. Arthur Franks Sr. and Mrs. Bessie Brown Franks. She received her high school diploma from Second Ward High School in Charlotte. She graduated from Wood Morgan Beauty School with a degree in cosmetology. Further specialization in her field of study was obtained from Bronner Brothers Company and Johnson Products.
Left to cherish memory are her son, William Spencer Moore (Linda), and her daughter, Dr. Wanda C. Doby, both of Charlotte; one sister, Jessie Irby (David), one brother, Herbert McCain, of Charlotte, and a host of other relatives.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, March 23, at 12 noon, with the visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., both at First Baptist Church-West Church. Burial will be in Oaklawn Park Cemetery.
Alexander is serving the Doby family.
