Jango Touray

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police announced an arrest in a Sunday shooting in Sugaw Creek Park that left a robbery victim with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, 18-year-old Jango Touray, was taken into custody shortly after the shooting and charged with multiple counts, including attempted murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.

According to a CMPD spokesman, Touray robbed and shot a man Sunday afternoon at the Sugaw Creek Park on W. Sugar Creek Road. CMPD did not immediately identify the victim.

Witnesses told police they saw a white Pontiac SUV fleeing the scene. Members of the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team were able to track the suspect to the Canterwood Drive area, where they located a suspect vehicle.

A short time later, police said, Touray returned to the vehicle and was arrested.
