Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man they say incited a brawl in the NoDa neighborhood during a fashion show in February.
They named the suspect as 47-year-old Antoine Fountain, who faces a felony charge relating to the incident.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to a disturbance call about a large fight at the NDemand venue at 617 East 28th Street around 2 a.m. on Feb. 25. A video posted on YouTube shows several people throwing tables, chairs and other items at each other from across a large room.
Detectives used the video to help with their investigation but had not made any arrests late Monday.
A CMPD spokeswoman told the Observer the venue had been the site of a fashion show the evening before.
Witnesses told WCNC-TV the fight broke out at an after-party for the Carolina Awards Ball 2013, with about 150 attendees.
The party featured a competitive fashion show that led to the brawl, NDemand owner Charlene Henderson told WCNC-TV.
“It was a very sore loser at a fashion show,” she said. “And it just happened to escalate.”
According to Mecklenburg jail records, Fountain was arrested in March 2011 and charged with first degree arson.
