Lesley George Bellinger was born August 26, 1936 in Blackville, South Carolina. He was the youngest of five children born to the late Gary Clifford Bellinger and the late Ruby Bush Bellinger. He departed this life on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, Charlotte.

Lesley received his education in the Blackville Public School System and graduated from Macedonia High School in Blackville, South Carolina in 1954. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Business Administration from Johnson C. Smith University in 1958. Upon graduating he was employed by The Wachovia Bank and Trust Company, Charlotte.

Shortly after he began his employment he was drafted into the United States Army. While in the army he served as finance clerk and payroll officer for his division. He attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Wachovia Bank where he worked as a banking officer for the operations department. On June 30, 1993, he retired from the bank with 34 years of service.

Lesley was blessed to meet and marry his high school sweetheart, Elberta Jones. They married on December 25, 1959. To their union were born three daughters, Vivian Denise, Sylvia Caroline (deceased) and Veronica Genee Bellinger.

Lesley shared his time and talents with his church and the community. He was a member of Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church where he was a trustee and deacon. He was currently a member of First Baptist Church West. He is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. He was a charter member of the Northwest Optimist Club and a member of the University Park Neighborhood Association. He volunteered for the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections and he was an avid donor for the American Red Cross. After retirement he worked on a part time bases for The Carolina Panthers organization.

Lesley was preceded in death by his daughter, Sylvia Caroline Bellinger Roddey. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Elberta Jones Bellinger, two daughters, Denise Bellinger McLean (Jonathan) and Veronica Bellinger Perry (Markus), son-in-law, Thomas Roddey, all of Charlotte, five grandchildren, Jonathan McLean, Jr., Jalen Roddey, Jacolby Roddey, Jacob Perry and Camryn Perry, all of Charlotte; and one sister, Ruby Bellinger Sanders, of Quinby, South Carolina. He leaves three brother-in-laws, Edward Jones, Sr. (Reverend Bernice), Upper Marlboro, Maryland; and Charles Jones (Margaret) and Ponell Jones of Blackville, South Carolina; three sister-in-laws Virginia Beatty (Harold), Washington, D.C.; Rosa Harley (Charles), Capitol Heights, Maryland; Caroll Priester (Clyde), Blackville, South Carolina and two special nieces, Sharie Huggins, Atlanta, Georgia and Gwendolyn Littlejohn, Blackville, South Carolina. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and extended relatives.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church West. The home going service will begin at 12 p.m. The Internment is at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Charlotte, North Carolina.
