Ruth Elizabeth Holman McLendon was born November 11, 1950 to the late Gladys Little Holman and William Harvey Holman. She was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 13, 2012.

She graduated from West Charlotte Senior High School in 1969. She attended Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) and obtained Associates Degrees in Paralegal Technology, Information Systems I, and Information Systems II.

She joined the United States Army as a Reservist in 1982. She served our country in Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. She also served in two In-Country Deployments at Fort Eustis and Fort Belvoir in Warriors in Transition Units. She retired from the United States Army on January 17, 2012 after 29 years, 1 month, and 14 days of service. She received numerous accolades and honors throughout her years of service to others.

She leaves happy memories to her four sisters and one brother, Judy Holman Anderson, Wilhelmina Holman, Wanda Holman McGee, Karen Holman, Michelle Blackwell, and Donnie Blackwell; her step-mother, Marianne B. Holman “Muh;” five nieces, Jermecia Beachem, Esq. “Pookie”, Katherine Holman, Janai McGee, Dakota Brown, Olivia Holman, all of Charlotte, NC and Shaunne Blackwell Hall of Winston-Salem, NC; two nephews, William Harvey Martin, and Jacoby McGee, both of Charlotte, NC; one godson, Shermaine Richardson, of Charlotte, NC; and, a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.

A funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2 p.m. at Reeder Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in Oaklawn Park Cemetery.
