Clifford “Coot” Medlin Jr., 64, entered into eternal life on February 9, 2012 at his home in Charlotte, NC.
His family will receive family and friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 517 Baldwin Ave., Charlotte. On February 17, 2012, the funeral service and celebration of his life will begin at 1 p.m. The interment will follow at Oaklawn Park Cemetery.
Mr. Clifford Medlin Jr. was born March 5, 1947 in Charlotte to the late Clifford Medlin Sr. and the late Bessie Butler Medlin. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Thomas Medlin and Frankie Nivins.
He was an avid golf player and enjoyed playing with his family and friends. He attended Second Ward High School, where he went on to become employed with Duke Energy for 25 years, retiring in 2002.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include: long-time companion, Geraldine Houston; one son, Avery Covington (Alison); sister, Juanita Tillman; brother, Herbert Medlin; three grandchildren, Daraven Walker, Shontaviua Covington (Tay) and Avery “Zay” Covington; one nephew, James Tillman (Latarsha); three maternal grandchidren, LaQuintin McManus, LaDe’ja Lotharp and Treasure Springs; one great-granddaughter, London Gilliard and many cherished nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to those kind friends who often remembered him with calls, cards and visits. Thank you the Medlin-Covington Family.
