Internationally acclaimed trombonist, composer, producer, and 2011 NEA Jazz Masters Award recipient Delfeayo Marsalis brings the “swing” to Charlotte, NC for a one-night jazz concert event.
Delfeayo Marsalis, member of ‘America’s First Family of Jazz’, is known for his resounding technical skill, humor, hipness, and charm on the bandstand. Marsalis will lead his world-class quintet in an evening of original modern jazz with a New Orleans flavor, and brilliantly arranged jazz standards. This performance follows Marsalis’ five-month national tour, a theatrical jazz production entitled Sweet Thunder.
Marsalis has toured internationally with legendary bandleaders such as Art Blakey, Slide Hampton, Max Roach, and Elvin Jones. In addition, over 100 recordings for major artists have been produced by Marsalis, including Harry Connick,Jr., Marcus Roberts, Spike Lee, Terrance Blanchard, Adam Makowicz, Nicholas Payton, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and the projects of Ellis, Branford, and Wynton Marsalis.
The JAI All-Star Youth Jazz Ensemble will open for this event.
