Ms. Ruth Miller Gaston, 73 passed away February 18, 2011 at Peak Resources, Charlotte, North Carolina.
A native Charlottean, she was born January 20, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Avery Wallace Miller. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Harriett Gaston, and son Calvin F. Miller, and brother George Miller.
Ruth attended the Charlotte schools and is an alumna of Second Ward High School, where she cheered on the Tigers as a cheerleader. For many years, she worked in housekeeping at Presbyterian Hospital from which she retired as supervisor.
A loving people person, Ruth has a vast “family.” If you were “adopted” by her, you had a mama for life!
Left to celebrate her life are her daughter, Avery Gaston; granddaughter, Keonna Gaston; great grandson, Roderic Gaston; brothers, Calvin Miller and Leonard (Mary) Miller; sister, Marion (Wilvon) Costner, all of Charlotte.
Ruth’s “family” also includes a loving friend, Nancy Foard of Charlotte; nephews, Leonard Miller Jr. and Gregory Miller, both of Charlotte, Stefan Costner of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Avery Costner of Silver Spring, MD; niece, Deborah Wilson of Charlotte; grandnieces Ashley and Samantha Costner of Charlotte and Upper Marlboro, MD, and a host of other relatives friends and “family” members.
Funeral Service is Wednesday, February 23, 2011, 1:00 PM, visitation, 12:00 PM-1:00 PM,C. N. Jenkins Presbyterian Church, 1421 Statesville Ave., Charlotte, NC. Interment, Oaklawn Cemetery. Long & Son Mortuary Service is serving the Gaston Family.
